The CTIA Placement Programme – From Culinary Students to Industry-Ready Professional
There are many roads to success in the culinary industry, from food styling, blogging, restaurant management, working abroad on yachts or in Michelin-star restaurants, to training students to become industry-ready professionals. But, if aspiring chefs want success, they will need to set themselves apart from the rest as soon as possible.
At CTIA, we believe there is a great deal more to becoming a chef than just talent and passion. Qualified chefs with plenty of real-world, hands-on experience are proving to be in great demand, and the lessons they learn and the skills they develop as they train to be chefs are vital for future success. Hands-on practical training offers students a chance to learn from real industry experts, which is why we offer all our alumni placement programmes in South Africa or abroad. Many students are eager to jump right into a paid position after graduation, but it takes time to hone skills and gain the confidence required to succeed. For these reasons, an industry placement programme is a valuable component of culinary education.
Chefs Training & Innovation Academy is a leading culinary academy in South Africa, with campuses in Centurion, Durban, and Stellenbosch. This year (2019), we are celebrating ten years of excellence. With a mission to develop industry-ready professionals, our six-month placement programme, of which 70% is spent on campus and 30% is spent at one of our approved industry partners, equips students with an invaluable foundation upon which to launch a lifelong career.
We place our alumni in practical roles where they gain invaluable hands-on experience through excellent mentorship in a real work environment. With the twin pillars of academic excellence and real-world experience, our placement programmes not only improve culinary skills and confidence, but they also focus on writing résumés, interview techniques, and communication skills, which often lead to permanent employment.
As an elite and influential culinary academy, we offer an academic platform where aspiring foodies are turned into industry-ready professionals. Today, CTIA alumni are reaping the benefits of their placement training and can be found working in all the corners of the world.
