How Our Culinary School Wowed the Judges at this Year’s Reaching for Young Stars Cook-Off
Here at the Chef’s Training & Innovation Academy, we pride ourselves on an unwavering pledge to exceptional training standards. Our students trust us to provide them with cutting-edge, world-class learning programmes, and the success our graduates go on to pursue is a testament to our commitment. Our school strives to equip students with the skills they require to reach new career heights, while providing them with a solid foundation from which to navigate their path in life. This year, our talented students did not fail to impress with their culinary prowess at the annual Mount Nelson Reaching for Young Stars Initiative.
More About The Reaching for Young Stars Initiative
The Mount Nelson Reaching for Young Stars initiative is a unique competition created by Showcook, and is celebrating its 14th year running in 2022. This year, it was hosted at one of the most celebrated hotels worldwide, The Mount Nelson, A Belmond Hotel, in Cape Town. Not only is this competition a chance for students to showcase their hard work and talent, but it is also an opportunity for them to develop and exchange skills as they are introduced to leading local companies and enjoy the mentorship of various industry experts. During the cook-offs, students had to use ingredients provided by sponsors to create mouth-watering meals. Each school team was also partnered with a wine estate, with CTIA’s team partnering with Krone. The competition, culinary masterpieces, and awards gala were also featured in a piece by the Daily Maverick.
The Standout Categories for Our Winners
The awards dinner and ceremony on June 15 was also a night to remember with fine dining and glitz and glam the order of the evening. Phenomenal prizes were awarded to the top performing Cape Town culinary and hospitality schools, with CTIA students taking home nine awards (the most ever won in the competition by any school). We at the Chefs Training & Innovation Academy would like to wish a well-deserved congratulations to all the participants and candidates that held high our institution’s name.
