Corporate Training

Our corporate training offerings include learnerships and apprenticeships designed to upskill and create value for both the employee and the company. At CTIA, we believe that learning is an ongoing practice and have thus created training options that are constantly updated to keep them relevant and on the cutting-edge of industry developments.

Our learnership and apprenticeship programmes have different compositions and end goals so continue reading to discover which one will suit your business needs and employees best!

Learnerships are programmes registered with the Department of Labour. They are specifically structured into two components, practical and theoretical. The practical component makes up 70% of the programme and the theoretical constitutes 30%.

A nationally recognised qualification will be attained after one year. Most companies offer learnership programmes in concurrence with the applicable Sector Education and Training Authority (SETA) or the accredited training provider and your employee.

Learnerships are mainly work-based programmes that teach skills that equip successful applicants to advance in their job.

Your employee is required to sign a standardized contract obtained through SETA which will regulate the learnership process and entire programme.

Apprenticeship programmes are ideal for growing your employee’s skills in a specific practical or technical field with the goal of becoming a certified Artisan. Apprenticeships are work-based programmes that result in a qualification and have a greater focus on trade than learnerships do.

To gain trade-related knowledge and theory, your employee will go to Technical and Vocational Education Training (TVET) colleges for required formal institution sessions. These sessions build practical skills under the guidance of qualified Artisans.

An apprenticeship is generally 3 to 6 years and is primarily a labour programme. The longer length of this programme is owing to the fact that a company will be certain of the specific profession in which it wants its employees to work and grow.
